Retreat for Displaced Teachers

Representatives of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Institute of History, International Relations and Socio-Political Sciences took part in the retreat camp.

In the period from August 14 to 17, a summer camp for displaced teachers “Retreat for Displaced Teachers” was held, initiated by the ” Progresylni ” in partnership with The German Marshall Fund. The event took place in the city of Lviv, where more than 40 representatives of displaced higher education institutions of Ukraine gathered.

Representatives of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University at the event were Vice Dean in charge of Social and Humanitarian Affairs, lecturer of the Translation Studies Department, head of the Council of Young Scientists and students Olha Korinska, Vice Dean in charge of academic Affairs, lecturer of the Department of Romano-Germanic Philology Kateryna Bilobrovska and Yevgenia Shevtsova, assistant of the Department of History of Ukraine.

During the first day, all the participants got to know organizational aspects and each other. The second day began with a brainstorming session in the World Cafe format known to all Progresylni, where the following questions were considered: how to organize your life in new conditions?, how to be resourceful?, how to socialize and integrate?, how to expand financial opportunities?, how to organize anti-crisis management?. Displaced educators gave advice to each of the above challenges by sharing their own experience.

Bohdan Ferens, the founder of the ” Progresylni “, who added personal insights from expert and media experience, as well as Dmytro Duma, the chief media specialist of the ” Progresylni “, shared lifehacks on the topic of the teacher’s brand with those present.

Another speaker of the event was Maria Yatsuhnenko, psychotherapist in training, organizational consultant, trainer of public and social projects. Co-author and host of the Telegram channel “Psychologist on the Connection”, crisis consultant of the Mental Health Care Service of the CF “Right to Protection”.

The third day was held in the form of a Living Library. Its topics were: resistance to the influence of emotions in the network, a successful media campaign: the experience of the “Progresylni”, life hacks of progressive teaching, air anxiety: actions and responsibility of the teacher.

In addition to participating in trainings, lecturers of the faculty of foreign languages gave interviews in English, where they shared their problems as internally displaced teachers, and in Ukrainian, where they paid attention to their desires, dreams and things that help them survive temporary difficulties.

Over the course of 4 days, interesting meetings, informal communication, and days full of emotional and psychological recharging awaited the participants. They had a unique opportunity to get 45% theory and 55% practice. At the end of the camp, each participant received a certificate of participation.
