The Deputy Director of the ER ICA for Social and Humanitarian Work completed a five-day training course on the use of the “Compass” manual.
From July 20 to 24, Alona Tereshchenko, the deputy director of the ER ICA for social and humanitarian work, attended a five-day national training course on human rights education: the use of the “Compass” manual in formal and informal education, which was held in the village of Slavsko, Lviv region.
After passing the competition, Alona Tereshchenko entered the thirty participants of the training, representatives from all regions of Ukraine.
The opening of the National training course was attended by Mr. Vladyslav Yatsuk, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine; Ms. Oksana Kovalenko, chief specialist of the Department of Content of Education, Language Policy and Education of National Minorities, Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine; Ms. Anna Aranzhii, Head of Programs, Council of Europe Youth. In their speeches, the guests emphasized the importance of the synergy of formal and informal education in the field of human rights education and how the Compass guide can help us in this.
During the course, the participants immersed themselves in the philosophy of human rights education and practiced exercises from the “Compass” manual, “trying on” this experience at the institutions from which the participants came: educational institutions, public organizations, and youth centers.
The training course was held by the Donetsk Youth Debate Center (Kyiv) in partnership with the Center for Educational Initiatives (Lviv) with the support of the Council of Europe Youth (Strasbourg, France) and The European Wergeland Center (EWC) (Oslo, Norway), together with the Ministry of Youth and of Sports of Ukraine and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, with the expert support of the Council of Europe project Youth for Democracy in Ukraine – a Council of Europe project.
