“Youth Work Informed About Trauma”

The teacher of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology took part in the specialized training “Youth Work Informed About Trauma”.

On July 26-28, 2023, the teacher of the Department of Philosophy and Sociology, Kateryna Kotelenets, took part in the specialized training “Youth Work Informed About Trauma”.

This event took place thanks to the cooperation of the Council of Europe project “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III” with the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine and the State Institution “All-Ukrainian Youth Center”.

Vladyslav Yatsuk, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, congratulated the participants of the event on the first day of the training. He emphasized the importance of this event, the purpose of which is to strengthen the competencies of youth workers to implement educational activities in the context of trauma-informed youth work. Vladyslav Yatsuk also emphasized that he was a participant in the first program “Youth Work Informed About Trauma” in 2022, which was implemented jointly by the projects of the Council of Europe and the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine.

Tasks of the specialized training:

  • exploring the role of youth work in the context of human rights and trauma awareness;
  • exchange of trauma-informed youth work practices in Ukraine and abroad, networking among youth workers;
  • studying the specifics of organizing and conducting educational events with young people taking into account a trauma-informed approach.

The “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine: Phase III” project is implemented within the framework of the Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine for 2023-2026 and is based on the results and experience of the “Youth for Democracy in Ukraine” projects in 2020-2022. The project will expand systemic impact by strengthening youth participation policies and strengthening youth work in wartime and post-war contexts, taking into account the specific needs of young people.
