Equipment from UNDP
13.7.2023
To implement the development program of the United Nations (UNDP) within the framework of the “EU4Recovery – Community Empowerment in Ukraine” project, equipment was obtained for the creation of an IT-solutions center on the basis of LTSNU in Myrhorod.
The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) works in some 170 countries and territories, helping to eradicate poverty, reduce inequality and exclusion, and build resilience so that countries can sustain progress. As a UN development agency, UNDP plays a critical role in helping countries achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The war in Ukraine has already led to significant human losses; unprecedented movement within the country and to neighboring countries; and the devastating destruction of infrastructure. Eighteen years of social and economic achievements of Ukraine are under threat. The main task of UNDP is to preserve development gains as fully as possible and to return Ukraine to the path of achieving the Development Goals as soon as possible.
Based on previous experience and to support the strengthening of resilience and rapid recovery of war-affected communities in selected target regions of Ukraine, UNDP and the European Union, a long-term partner (in particular for the UNDP program in the east), launched the EU4Recovery – Community Empowerment in Ukraine project in parallel. (EU4Recovery), which will provide a multiplier effect by further scaling up key interventions.
As a result of the beginning of the war with Ukraine in February 2022 and active hostilities in the Luhansk region, the Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University was evacuated for the second time and is taking measures to restore operations at two locations – in the city of Poltava and in the city of Myrhorod.
At the beginning of July, our university received one of the tranches of equipment for the creation of the IT solutions Center. The IT Solutions Center project was quite successful and is of great importance for the development of communities. The university managed to keep the team that worked on the implementation of the project. Achievements and experience of the project can be used for work in other communities of Ukraine. The university plans to resume the work of the Center for IT solutions in the city of Myrhorod. The main goal of the developed concept is the network interaction of digital hubs under the coordination of the Luhansk Regional Center for IT Solutions.
