International Academic Workshop

On July 4-8, 2023, the International Academic Workshop “Informing about the European Union in Ukraine in the Conditions of Russian Aggression” was held for displaced higher education institutions.
The event was held within the framework of the Erasmus + Project of the Jean Monnet program “Building the Potential of European Studies in Ukrainian Territories Affected by the Conflict: Understanding Challenges and Generating Solutions” (the village of Hlibivka, Kyiv region).
Doctor of Public Administration, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Work Valentyna Nikolaieva and Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Pedagogy Nataliia Otroshchenko from Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University took part in the event.
The organizers of the meeting were Iryna Sikorska, head of the board of the Ukrainian Association of Teachers and Researchers of European Integration, director of the Center for International Education of Mariupol State University, research fellow at the Free University of Berlin (Germany) and Roman Kalytchak, coordinator of the project “Building the Potential of European Studies in Ukrainian Territories Affected by the Conflict: Making Sense of Challenges and Generating Solutions”, Ivan Franko Lviv National University, Ukrainian Association of Teachers and Researchers of European Integration.
The program of the International Academic Workshop turned out to be rich and meaningful. It contained meaningful reports by domestic speakers, as well as scientists from EU countries.
During the work, topics related to post-war reconstruction of Ukraine were discussed; cultural policy of the EU in the conditions of war; main approaches and modern trends of Europeanization of higher education in Ukraine; common foreign and security policy of the European Union in the context of Russia’s war against Ukraine; formation of resistance to informational influences in conditions of war; digital transformation in Ukraine and integration into the EU; network communication in the process of European integration of Ukraine; European military aid to Ukraine, features of communications in wartime conditions; EU migration policy; interactive methods in teaching European and European integration topics, etc. The practical result of the workshop was practicing the skills of successfully applying for projects of the program named after Jean Monet.
In the report “Teaching European Studies in the Conditions of War: the Experience of the Participating Universities”, the teachers of our university presented the experience of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University and highlighted the prospects of the institution’s development in the post-war period.
The workshop was meaningful, professional, useful, trendy, and friendly. We sincerely thank the organizers for the invitation.
