Telebridge with the European Organization for Nuclear Research

On July 3, a telebridge was held that united our university with the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN, Geneva, Switzerland).

The speaker of the event was Oksana Zhivotova – CERN employee, graduate of Poltava National Pedagogical University, physics teacher, national coordinator of CERN educational programs for Ukraine. The event was moderated by Oleksandr Yurov, head of the All-Ukrainian Club of Honorary Ambassadors of Science of CERN in Ukraine, leading specialist of the National Center “Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine”.

The event took place in the form of a webinar. Participants were able to visit a virtual tour and listen to a popular science lecture about the world’s largest high-energy physics research center: from the experimental confirmation of the existence of particles such as pions to the discovery of the Higgs boson and the birth of the Internet within the walls of CERN.

Ms. Oksana spoke about the opportunities that CERN provides to pupils, students and teachers of Ukraine. Familiarized with such programs as Beamline for School, Program for High School Students, Ukraine Teacher Program, International High School Teacher Program.

Representatives of general secondary and higher education institutions of Luhansk Oblast and Ukraine also participated in the event.

Telebridge was initiated by Lina Bondarenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Physical and Technical Systems and Informatics, with the assistance and support of Mr. Oleksandr Yurov, the head of the All-Ukrainian Club of Honorary Ambassadors of Science of CERN in Ukraine, a leading specialist of the National Center “Small Academy of Sciences of Ukraine” and the Deputy Director for Educational Work of the ER IPMIT, in the person of Mr. Volodymyr Matievskyi.
