23.6.2023
Inspector of the International Education Sector of the International Relations Office took part in the EducationUSA Ukraine’s webinar.
On June 22, 2023, Liudmyla Ovcharova, Inspector of the International Education Sector of the International Relations Office, took part in the Webinar on the Preparation of Ukrainian Transcripts for Admission to American Institutions. This webinar is a part of the course “International Credential Evaluation: Understanding the Essentials” by the International Association of Educators (NAFSA). Understanding the basics of the foreign assessment system is important for those, who work with foreign students. A basic understanding of the grading systems in different countries can better assist foreign students. These skills are a key part of the admissions process for new applicants, but they are also very useful in general academic and immigration counseling.
Due to the fact that more than 100 applications were received for the course, all participants were divided into smaller cohorts of 20 people, so access to the course will be provided gradually from July to October. The first step to completing the course was the Webinar on the Preparation of Ukrainian Transcripts for Admission to American Institutions. The guest speaker for the webinar was Shelby Cearley, Senior Representative of the Global Transcript Evaluation Team at Adtalem Global Education, Vice-President of Resource and Knowledge Management at TAICEP (The Association for International Credential Evaluation Professionals). Shelby Cearley has 20 years of experience in international admissions and qualifications assessment. Prior to joining Adtalem Global Education, Shelby worked at Texas Tech University, South Plains College, and International Education Evaluations (IEE).
Shelby Cearley shared information on how to help Ukrainian students prepare a high-quality transcript for admission to a Master’s program at American institutions, what to pay special attention to, and how the transcript can influence the decision of the admissions committee of educational institutions. This will allow us to continue strengthening the institutional identity of our university.
We express gratitude to Ms. Cearley for the meaningful and interesting information, as well as to the EducationUSA team for the opportunity to take this course.
