Defense of educational practice in topography, geology and geomorphology

There was a defense of educational practice in topography, geology and geomorphology.

On June 10, 2023, at the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences, the defense of the results of the training practice in topography, geology and geomorphology was held for the first-year full-time and part-time bachelor’s students (head of field practice – Dmytro Sopov, Ph.D. in Earth Sciences, acting head of the Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences).

During the educational practice in topography, students studied in more detail the structure of topographic devices and geodetic tools, as well as their correct use; have mastered both topographic surveying methods used in production and simpler ones required for work in educational institutions; learned how to properly and neatly maintain documents and reporting materials.

During the educational practice in geology, students acquired the skills of working with geological equipment, learned how to describe geological outcrops and select rock samples, keep a field diary, describe various geological and geomorphological objects, and compile collections.

During the educational practice in geomorphology, students learned to distinguish individual forms of relief, as well as entire geomorphological complexes, to establish their origin (genesis); to determine absolute and relative heights, morphometric indicators of individual landforms, their extension, contours, angles of incidence, etc.; studied the relationship between the relief and the geological structure of the area; learned to give an economic assessment of the terrain and recommendations for its rational use.

The Department of Chemistry, Geography and Earth Sciences hopes that the knowledge of the bachelors acquired during the educational practice in topography, geology and geomorphology will help them in the development of the Luhansk region, after its complete de-occupation from the enemy invasion, and in Ukraine as a whole.
