“The World of Touching Poetry”

Annual traditional event dedicated to Taras Shevchenko’s memory was conducted on March 11.

The event was conducted at Starobilsk Humanitarian and Pedagogical College and College of LNU. Every year, early in spring we honour the memory of the Great Kobzar. This is especially important for college students because we are the members of big family of Luhansk National University that bears the name of Taras Shevchenko. Bright celebration of Shevchenko’s days is already a tradition in our college. Exhibitions of students’ creative works including writings, poems, abstracts and illustrations to Taras Hryhorovych works prove that students express respect and interest to his oeuvre. Students, teachers and guests could enjoy touching literary and musical compositions and staged versions of Kobzar’s works of great talent. College students with pleasure took part in contests and literary games dedicated to life and creative journey of T.H. Shevchenko.

Holiday guest Dean of Faculty of Philology and Social Communications, Candidate of Philological Sciences, Associated Professor Tetiana Stepanivna Pinchuk expressed gratitude and the warmest wishes to everybody who had taken part in preparing and arranging the event.

Everyone had a chance to feel deeply the wonderful poetry of T.H. Shevchenko. Today, when our country goes through hard times again, Kobzar’s poems are essential and fateful like never before. They shine with a new light. They make us rethink the importance of human life.

College students and teachers presented their own book of poems illustrated with prints of own art works called “It All Starts with a Little…”. Poetry of Kobzar not just lives in the hearts of grateful children but causes new creativity.

These authors are not famous writers and poets but ordinary students and teachers who have kindness, love of native country and respect to native words in their souls. And maybe their works are not the perfection but this is not so important. Nothing matters more than having a desire to create, to share own thoughts and feelings. The book includes the works dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Luhansk National University and memory of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko.

Also the holiday presented artistic exhibition by students of college dedicated to the 95th anniversary of university and memory of T.H. Shevchenko. Exhibition included illustrations, Kobzar portraits, needleworks and different artistic compositions.

Everybody enjoyed the holiday very much.
