Meeting with the author

On the occasion of Heroe’s Day, teachers and students of the university joined a meeting with a participant in hostilities, author of the book “Blood Formula” Ilia Titko.

On May 23, Heroes’ Day was celebrated in Ukraine. The annual holiday was introduced in honor of all the defenders of Ukraine who fought for its independence and territorial integrity for many centuries and continue to do so today. On this occasion, on May 24, in the “Creative Light” of the library, a meeting was held with a participant in hostilities, the author of the book “Blood Formula” Ilia Titko.

The meeting was attended by teachers and students of Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University, who joined online. Those present listened to information about the history of the holiday, honored the memory of the fallen defenders with a moment of silence. During the war, we say goodbye to fallen heroes every day, but they are with us forever. Thanks to their heroism, the lives of each of us continue.

Communicating with Ilia Titko was touching for everyone. The autobiographical story of the author moved the participants of the meeting to the core. He presented his book of memories “Blood Formula”, which describes the events from September 2015 to October 2016 in Luhansk region. It was there – near Popasna, as part of the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade that Ilia served for almost thirteen months on the first line of defense. In a book about the first encounter with a real war, difficult adaptation to difficult conditions, reconstruction of psychology, a specific look at the events that actually took place with the author’s participation, defeats and triumphs, the pain of losses and the joy of victories.

Ilia Mykhailovych believes that more should be written about the war, so that people do not forget, do not care. The book was recently translated into English.

We express our sincere thanks to the organizer of the meeting – the director of the Dolyna Central Library, Nadiia Kushnirchuk, for the opportunity to communicate with a participant in the hostilities and to join the commemoration of the soldiers who stand in defense of the freedom and independence of Motherland-Ukraine.
