Scientific Activity

Science work of the Department of Information Technologies and Systems includes several application fields of information technologies to different directions of science, engineering, economy and education: research of systems for engineering design and modeling physical and mechanical parameters of constructions and special purpose products; microcontroller and PLD programming; development and modeling control system for specialized winding equipment; development of integrated information and reference systems based on JAVA; development and research of educational WEB-portals and creation of educational humanitarian programs.

Scientific developments of the Department of Algebra and System Analysis relate to the modern directions in the field of mathematical analysis and algebra: semi-group theory; structural properties of algebraic systems. The Department keeps contacts with the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics of the NAS of Ukraine (the City of Donetsk) (scientific journal “Ukrainian Mathematical Bulletin” is issued); Kyiv State University (Mechanical and Mathematical Faculty) (the international scientific journal “Algebra and Discrete Mathematics”); Donetsk National University (Mathematical Faculty), the University of the City of Vaasa (Finland).

Lecturers of the Department of Physics and Applied Mechanics increase their qualification level in the leading research institutions of Ukraine and actively cooperates with Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering of NAS of Ukraine, Institute of the Economy of Industry of the NAS of Ukraine, Institute of Physics of the Polish Academy of Science, Institut fur Festkorper-und Werkstofforschung Dresden and Institute of Solid Body and Semiconductors of Belorussia AS (the City of Minsk).

The leading lecturers of the Department of Document Science and Information Activity perform researches in the following directions: important issues of modern document science; methods and practice of training specialists in specialties “Document Science and Information Activity” and “Records Management”; organizing modern business communication; unitized documentation systems; staff records management; document support for personnel management, culture of oral and written business communication; analytico-synthetic information processing; literary text editing.

Scientific work of the Department of Theoretical and Applied Computer Science relates to use of information technologies in different fields of science, engineering, economy and education, including: system analysis and modeling of engineering, economy, social and other processes and objects; process control in the fields of economy, engineering, education, tourism; researching discrete mathematical structures and combinatorial schemes; researching data analysis in sociology, psychology, pedagogy; quality control of remote education at higher educational establishments; use of informational technologies in tourism and hotel and restaurant business. The results of lecturers’ researches are used for teaching informational subjects in many training directions at LNU.
