The educational hour, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mykhailo Hrushevsky, took place at the University.
The event, entitled “The Great Ukrainian – a Historian, Politician, and President”, united students of the Faculty of Ukrainian Philology and Social Communications and the Educational and Research Institute of Commerce, Serving Technology and Tourism.
“It is no accident that the epilogue to the opening of the meeting was selected a quotation from the works of the outstanding historian, which says that thanking to the historical memory a person becomes a person, the people – the nation, the country – the state. Because these words are still relevant today”, – one of the organizers, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor Mykhailo Chumak said.
Mykhailo Hrushevsky is a well-known scientist, whose creative heritage impresses by its thematic range, encyclopedic and fundamental nature. He is the first actual President of Ukraine. The scientist laid the strong foundations of a strong Ukrainian state, as clearly evidenced by the words of the Great Ukrainian: “We must sacrifice everything to save the most precious thing in this moment: the autonomy and independence of our nation.”
The outstanding historian and statesman was convinced that the Ukrainian people refers to the European circle, not because of historical ties only, but also the national character.
